Passport Seva - Applying passport in Chennai

Our MD,  has announced  yearly celebrations. this year, the trip to Sri Lanka.  

We are almost based on Pondicherry, India and the need for passport doesn't arise.    When the requirement rises for passport,we have enquired for many agencies and they that will cost about 2200 INR to 2500 INR.  At last, we googled and found that the passport Seva Home is the most appropriate way of applying for passport.  

Here, I would like to share my experience about applying through internet .

Goto the "http://passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/welcomeLink" and click "New User? Register Now", User Registration page will open.  Fill in the form and click "Register" then a Activation mail will send to our registered email id.  Open the email and click on the link given in it to activate your registration.

On activating we will able to login into the Passport Seva Portal.  After login into the portal, click 'Apply Fresh Passport' this is go upto to 5 pages, wherein we have to fill in the datas and 'save details' in each page.  The data saved can be allowed to edit till we 'Submit Form'.  On successfuly editing of the form, preview is allowed to view the application and finally we can click 'Submit Form' on completion.

There is a link for payment process.  We have to pay an amount of 1500 INR only towards the application. Both  Online payment and challan payment is accepted by them.  On proceeding with online payment, after completing the payment process we have been scheduled appointment with passport office.  The appointment is scheduled with date and time with the payment receipt.

We have to take print  of the payment receipt and proceed to passport office on the scheduled date and time.  With the payment receipt,  our supporting documents such as birth certificate, Aadhar ID, Ration Card, Tenth Marklist, Bank Passbook, marriage certificate if married, etc,.. in original and a self attested copy   also to be accompanied.  Be there on the given reporting time.  

Then the passport officers will be checking your certificates, take photo and proceed with the other formalities.
